In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) China and Russia made a trade agreement to not use the US dollar in trading between them

I believe that Benyamin Netanyahu does not prefer to have a PLO state because it is a threat to the existence of the state of Israel but “political correctness” causes him to continue to call for peace negotiations with the PLO.  Therefore, Benyamin Netanyahu is playing a sophisticated game of political chess. This week Israel made it more difficult to agree to the dividing of Jerusalem and thus creating a PLO state because the government of Israel passed a law that dividing Jerusalem would require a vote through a national referendum.

In a marathon 7 hour meeting between Hilliary Clinton and Benjamin Netanyahu in the USA, they discussed the parameters for a 3 month settlement freeze extension. The US has offered a variety of incentives to Israel in exchange for the proposed 3 month settlement freeze.  If the US agrees to put the proposed agreement in writing and the settlement freeze excludes East Jerusalem then Israel may get this offer agreed to in the Israel inner security cabinet because Shas (Ultra-Orthodox Sephardic party) would abstain from the vote.  If this happens, members within Netanyahu’s Likud party threaten to split the party.  However, US sees that any agreement would require that Israel must cease from building in East Jerusalem.  Netanyahu insists that in any agreement with the US that the US must put the agreement in writing and that it will not ask Israel for a further extension after the 3 months expire.  Israel Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin states that he sees that there has been a change in US / Israel relations as compared to the past and that the US no longer regards Israel as a strategic asset in the Middle East.  In order to make it more difficult to divide Jerusalem, Israel passed a law that any agreement to divide Jerusalem must be approved through a national referendum.  In any Mideast peace deal, it would be understood that NATO would have to play a significant peace keeping role.  In internal Israel politics, 80% of Israelis are dissatisfied with state and religious policy as secular and religious Jews don’t like each other.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

The Republicans had a landslide victory in the US Congress from the US midterm elections and this sets the stage for gridlock with President Obama where each side will most likely seek to blame each other for the problems that will come upon the country in the next two years.  Pastor Lindsey Williams has revealed the name of the global elite individual who has been giving him information over the years. His name is Kenneth Fromm who was the ex-CEO of Atlantic Richfield.

We are getting “mixed messages” regarding the status of the peace process.  One one hand, Debka reports that an agreement has been made between the PLO and Israel to resume peace talks in January 2011. On the other hand, Netanyahu has said that the US hasn’t offered Israel incentives in exchange for extending the settlement freeze for an additional 3 months. The Palestians have stated that they are going to give the USA two more weeks to work out details to restart peace talks.  The PLO has indicated that they will continue their efforts to get a UN Security Council Resolution to declare Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as being illegal.  Mahmood Abbas said that the PLO will ask the US to draft a framework peace agreement should its efforts to get Israel to agree to a settlement freeze if talks fail.  The US has stated that they will discourage the Palestinians from seeking a PLO state through the UN Security Council.  Britain has given some element of recognition of a PLO state by signing with the PLO a ‘treaty between nations’.  Should peace talks fail, the Labor party in Israel (headed by Ehud Barak) has said that they will leave the Netanyahu government.

The Palestinians are indicating that the US will probably wait until after the US elections to apply any significant pressure against Israel to agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as it’s capital. Former President Jimmy Carter indicated that if Israel doesn’t agree to a PLO state that economic sanctions might be placed upon Israel.  The PLO are indicating that they intend to get the USA through a UN Security Council Resolution to declare Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as illegal under international law. In addition, the PLO are indicating that they also want the UN Security Council to recognize a PLO state with East Jerusalem as its capital through a UN Security Council Resolution.  The United Nations have indicated that they will recognize a PLO state by August 2011.  Mahmood Abbas is also trying to lobby the Quartet (UN, US, European Union and Russia) to recognize a PLO state through the UN. However, the European Union says that this is not the time to recognize a PLO state through the UN.  The Vatican called for the establishment of a PLO state and an end to Israel settlement building. The US is trying to get Israel to agree to a three month settlement freeze extension. An Israeli ambassador indicates that Israel may be willing to agree to a three month settlement freeze extension however Israel doesn’t have the votes in the inner cabinet to extend the settlement freeze.

The Federal Reserve is preparing to announce that it will print money to pay for US debt.  The IMF says that the dollar is overvalued.  These are signs that the US dollar is on a path toward devaluation. Meanwhile, there has been a significant increase in insider selling on Wall Street.

In February, a senior PLO official revealed to World Net Daily (WND) that the USA was willing to back a UN Resolution to recognize a PLO state in the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.  In May, the USA stated that it would assign blame if the peace talks fail.  These days may soon be arriving.  Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu offered an extension of the settlement freeze if the PLO would recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  Abbas responded that the PLO will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  A senior PLO official, Yasser Rabbo, stated that the PLO will recognize Israel if Israel returns to the 1967 borders.  PLO official, Mustafa Barghouthi declared that the PLO needed to immediately declare an independent PLO state based upon 1967 borders and ask the international community to recognize this declaration.  The Egyptian foreign minister said that Arab nations may request that the UN recognize a PLO state based upon the 1967 borders in November.  France is one of the five permanent members of the UN security council.  France’s foreign minister stated that he can’t rule out France being in favor of the UN recognizing a PLO state based upon 1967 borders.

A new record number of home foreclosures in the USA were made from July – September.  However, many of these foreclosures are now being contested in US courts.  Bank America has temporarily halted all home repossessions.  Because of the weak economy, the Federal Reserve has started the process to print money to pay for US Treasury debt. The Federal Reserve is in the process of determining how large this effort will be.  The decision will be announced in their next meeting on November 2-3.  The Wall Street Journal reports that the Federal Reserve is seen as trying to devalue the US dollar.  These things have caused the US dollar to reach record lows against many major currencies around the world. The dollar is at a 15 year low against the Japanese yen. The dollar is at an all-time low against the Swiss franc. The Canadian dollar is at parity with the US dollar. The US dollar is at a 27 year low against the Australian dollar.  The euro / dollar exchange rate has risen from 1.27 to 1.40 in the past month.  This caused the European Head of the Global currency research Bank of Tokyo to state that the pace and magnitude of currency moves against the US dollar are ‘unprecedented’.   In light of these developments, the United Nations (UN) has warned of currency wars between nations.  In the midst of all these things, 420 banks are now demanding a one world currency based upon the IMF’s special drawing rights as an alternative to the US dollar being the world’s reserve currency.

The 10 month settlement freeze in the West Bank ended on September 26. The USA proposed to extend the settlement freeze for 2-3 months while offering Israel various incentives to do so.  If a settlement freeze is extended, the goal will be to agree to the borders of a PLO state during this time.  If Israel does agree to an extension, they want the US to agree that in any final status deal that Israel will keep the large settlement blocs and limited construction would be allowed in the settlements while talks are being held.  If an agreement on the borders of a PLO state does not materialize during a proposed 2-3 month settlement freeze extension, a senior Israeli official has stated that Obama will never agree to the resumption of building in the West Bank.  It is reported that Netanyahu tried to persuade his government to accept the US proposal but a majority in his government will not agree.  The PLO have agreed in principle to agree to continuing direct talks with Israel for a 2-3 month settlement extension if it will result in an agreement on borders of a PLO state during this time. If Israel doesn’t agree to an extension of the settlement freeze, Mahmood Abbas has stated his intention to resign from being President of the PLO.  Meanwhile, the Arab League has agreed to support Abbas to end direct talks with Israel if Israel doesn’t extend the settlement freeze and agreed to give the USA one more month to convince Israel to extend the settlement freeze.

The Federal Reserve has announced plans to monetize the US debt (print money). In the short term, this causes stocks to rise, interest rates to fall and gold to rise. Ultimately, this causes a crisis in confidence in the US dollar which will result in the crash of the bond market (higher interest rates) and hyperinflation. In a recent speech, Ben Bernanke indicated that the US is on the path of financial collapse if spending and debt continues to increase at the current rate. Golden Sachs is forecasting a sharp decline in the dollar for 2011. It appears that the US has started down the path of dollar devaluation. This is causing the beginning of currency wars around the globe as countries around the world don’t want a strong currency against the US dollar as it will weaken their export economy to the USA.  As a result, their is a call for the G20 to coordinate dollar devaluation so that it won’t adversely affect the global economy.

The second round of direct talks have concluded. George Mitchell reports that Israel and the PLO are having serious discussions on the core issues of the conflict and the drafting of a framework agreement is progressing.  In order to resolve the issue of the end of the settlement freeze on Sept 26, the US has proposed that the freeze be extended for 3 month so that there can be an agreement on borders.  WND reports that Netanyahu is prepared to extend the settlement freeze, free Palestinian prisoners and transfer to the PA security control in several West Bank areas to resolve the potential crisis.  The settlers see an extension of the freeze as a declaration of war against them.  However, Israel’s inner cabinet voted this week to not extend the settlement freeze. Mitchell is traveling to Syria and Lebanon to update them on the results of the recent direct talks and to seek to obtain a comprehensive regional peace with Israel. Netanyahu has indicated that he is willing to withdraw from the Golan Heights to have peace with Syria.  An alternative view of the Israel / PLO direct talks is that Mitchell is going to Syria because he expects the Israel / PLO peace talks to fail and he wants to start work on peace talks between Syria and Israel instead.  England views Israeli settlements in the West Bank as illegal which is also the position of the European Union.

The Federal Reserve has announced that it is purchasing about $27 billion in US Treasuries from Sept 15 – October 6.  A Goldman Sachs person mentioned that the Federal Reserve may announce in November or December the intention to buy $1 Trillion dollars of US Treasuries.  This is printing money to pay for US debt which will ultimately result in the collapse of the dollar and hyperinflation. LEAP 2020 website expects the US economy and dollar to collapse by the spring of 2011.

The devaluation of the US dollar and a collapse of the US and world economy is a tribulation event.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on one thing:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process

At the direct talks held in Washington D.C. on September 2, it was agreed by Israel and the PLO that they would keep their discussions private and NOT reveal anything to the media about them. However, the PLO told the media in the past week that Israel has agreed to discuss the peace process from where former Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert left them. Olmert offered a PLO state on 98% of the West Bank with equal land exchange and making East Jerusalem the capital of a PLO state. Since Netanyahu became Prime Minister in 2009, he has publically stated that he is NOT willing to resume talks with the PLO that involved taking into consideration the offers made to them by Ehud Olmert. Israeltoday reported on September 1 (BEFORE the official launching of the direct talks on September 2) that Israel government officials told them that Obama wants the results of the direct talks to be a framework agreement in the near future. This was indeed the announcement made following the conclusion of the kick-off of the direct talks on September 2. The PLO has expressed optimism from the results of the direct talks held on September 2 that peace talks have “taken a 180 degree turn” for the better. The PLO also stated that Obama would like to visit to the Middle East in the near future to advance the talks. Peace talks are scheduled in Egypt on September 14 and Jerusalem on September 15. Israel will need to make key decisions in the next few weeks regarding the direction of the peace talks and what they are willing to do about the upcoming end to the 10 month settlement freeze on September 26.
